Delaney Grace McDowell born 10-18-08 at 3:45 pm, 5 lbs. 12.5 oz. and 19 inches long. She was 5 weeks early and needed some help absobing oxygen, and breathing correctly. Without getting technical, her lungs were underdeveloped and so she used practically every muscle in her body to breath and it was exhusting to her.
They decided to transport her to different hospital so she could be put on a C-PAP machine. This is a picture of her loaded up and ready for transport in a special ambulance.
Mom and baby in the NICU. The C-PAP covers most of her face, at least mommy gets to hold her, even with all the tubes and wires.
After a few days Delaney graduated from a C-PAP to a Vapo-Therm (warm-moist oxygen). This is a view of her private NICU suite. Thank goodness for good insurance!
